There were a handful of upgrades to the event as well. Improved, color-coded directional signage kept riders on their chosen route, additional markers for rest stops, bike repair, and notable scenic selfie-spots. We added a WCA Recovery Tent to allow riders to recuperate and cool down after the race. Every rider received a medal for participating in the 2017 event. Thanks to a partnership with Water Street Brass, each rider received a commemorative finishing medal for crossing the finish line.
The after-party featured the modern and classic country rock band Refuge, from Erie, PA, as well as Angel Rodriguez, one of the finalists for Chautauqua’s Got Talent. Chef’s of Buffalo provided a food truck and several local favorites set up on Vendor’s Row.
This year, through a partnership with CRECHE, riders and attendants filled a Chautauqua Lake Community Sailing Foundation sailboat with backpacks and school supplies, which were provided for area school children.
