WHAT IS THE CHQ GRAN FONDO?
A Gran Fondo, is an organized, short-to-long distance cycling event with mass-participation followed by an after-party. In general, these events are not considered cycling races and are suitable for riders of all skill levels to participate.
For the recreational rider: Completing the route, enjoying the outdoors and sharing the experience with friends and like minded participants is the primary objective.
For competitive cyclists: Each rider is provided with a number and a finishing time, so more advanced cyclists with the objective to compete are welcome to challenge themselves against likeminded participants.
PARTICIPANTS ARE WELCOME TO ENJOY ONE OF TWO COURSE OPTIONS:
ROUTE A: This is a 42 mile loop around Chautauqua Lake that will take cyclists past 59 Lucy Lane – the childhood home of Lucille Ball, located in Celoron, NY.
ROUTE B: This is a family-friendly, 20 mile half loop option that allows riders to take the Stow Ferry across the lake.
